U.S. Social Content Ratings: 9/25 - 10/1/2017

Facebook and Twitter were abuzz on premiere week. On Monday, the premiere of 'The Voice' (NBC) led the social content ratings with 361,000 unique post authors on Facebook, 38,000 unique tweet authors, and a total of 552,000 interactions. The series premiere of 'The Good Doctor' (ABC) saw 122,000 uniques on Facebook and 38,000 on Twitter, with over 285,000 interactions. Also on Monday was 'The Big Bang Theory' (CBS) which had 98,000 cumulative uniques and 131,000 interactions.

Ratings highlights for the week of September 25, 2017 - October 1, 2017 in the US.

It was premiere week for most of the broadcast networks this week. On Monday, CBS led in the advertiser-friendly 18-49 demographic and in total viewers, averaging a 2.3/8 and 10.68 million viewers. It was aided by the season premiere of 'The Big Bang Theory' (4.1/16, 17.65m) and the series premiere of 'Young Sheldon' (3.8/14, 17.21m) - the second largest premiere for a comedy since 2001's 'Inside Schwartz' (11.1/29, 22.51m) & 2011's '2 Broke Girls' (7.1/16, 19.37m). NBC was in close second with a 2.2/8 and 9.06 million viewers, aided by 'The Voice' (2.6/9, 10.57m) and the premiere of 'The Brave' (1.3/5, 5.96m). The biggest surprise of the night was ABC's 'The Good Doctor' which put up a 2.2/8 in the 18-49s and 11.2 million viewers.

Top U.S. Shows for African-Americans: Week of 10/2 - 10/8/2017

FOX's 'Empire' led the week ending October 8th among African-American viewers with 3.88 million total African-American viewers. That is 66% of the show's total 5.89 million total viewers Wednesday. 'Star', which airs immediately after it was second on the week with 3.2 million AA viewers, 70% of it's 4.56 million viewer total. 

Other non-sports shows which made the Top 10 include ABC's 'Scandal' and 'Blackish'. 'Scandal' brought in 1.68 million AA viewers, 30% of it's 5.52 million total, and 'Blackish' had 1.58 million AA viewers, which was 33% of its 4.71 million total. 

Both primetime broadcast NFL games made the top 10 for the week. NBC's 'Sunday Night Football' had 2.94 million AA viewers, good for 18% of its 16.73M total. Finally, CBS's 'Thursday Night Football' saw 2.67 million AA viewers out of its 15.43M total (17%).

United Kingdom Ratings: 9/25 - 10/1/2017

Ratings highlights for the week of September 25, 2017 - October 1, 2017 in the UK. UK ratings reporting will consist the top show of the day for each of the major networks. 

The top show on BBC1 Monday was 'EastEnders' which found 6.89 million total viewers. The show remained on top for the network on Thursday (6.27M) and Friday (6.17M) as well. On Tuesday, 'Doctor Doctor' led the day with 8.81 million viewers, and on Wednesday, 'The Six O'clock News' did 4.36M. 'Strictly Come Dancing' led the network on both Saturday (10.79M), and Sunday (9.33M).

French Ratings: 9/25 - 10/1/2017

On France 2, 'Rizzoli & Isles' aired 2 episodes which were at 3.69 million viewers and 3.4M across France. On TF1, 2 episodes of 'Camping Paradis' found 4.44 million and 3.96M. The season 12 premiere of 'L’amour est dans le pré' notched 4.59 million viewers on M6, and was followed by 'Karine le Marchand' which did 4.15M. On France 3, 'Faut pas rêver' had 1.709 million. Other shows of note include: 'American Pickers' (CSTAR) which had 151,000 viewers, and an airing of 'Kick Ass 2' on TWC which did 616,000.

Australian Ratings: 9/25 - 10/1/2017

Ratings highlights for the week of September 25, 2017 - October 1, 2017 in Australia.

Nine's 'The Block' led the day with 1.122 million viewers across Australia, and was virtually even between Sydney and Melbourne - 334,000 vs. 333,000. Also on Nine was 'Hot Seat' which did 497,000. On Seven Network, the '2017 AFL Brownlow Medal' did 1.089 million, and hit huge numbers in both Melbourne (654,000) and Adelaide (190,000). 'Home and Away' did 578,000 (did not air in Adelaide or Perth), 'The Chase Australia' did 537,000, and 2 episodes of 'Highway Patrol' scored 384,000 & 376,000 despite not airing in Melbourne or Adelaide. On Network TEN, 'Australian Survivor' had 625,000 viewers, 'Have You Been Paying Attention' did 579,000, 'The Project' notched 559,000, and 'Life in Pieces' was a dismal 179,000. 

Canadian Ratings Week of 9/25 - 10/1/2017

Ratings highlights from the week of September 25, 2017 - October 1, 2017 in Canada:

On Monday, CTV's 'The Big Bang Theory' began its 11th season with 3.85 million viewers across Canada, a rise from the season 10 finale back in May, which had 3.7 million. 'Young Sheldon' premiered with 3.56 million viewers, 'Me Myself & I' had 1.45 million, and 'The Good Doctor' did 2.61 million. On Global, 'The Brave' premiered to 1.24 million, and 'NCIS: New Orleans' had 1.12M. On CBC, 'Murdoch Mysteries' ('The Artful Detective in the United States) did 1.21 million

OJ Simpson Parole Hearing Leads Entire Day in Total Viewers | 2017-07-20

According to the LA Times, the parole hearing for O.J. Simpson, which aired across multiple networks, broadcast and cable, brought in a cumulative 13.5 million viewers. From 1-3pm, CBS led the coverage with 3.1 million viewers, followed by ABC (2.3 million), NBC (1.9 million), Fox News (1.7 million) Fox Broadcasting (1.3 million), CNN (1.1 million), HLN (559,000), and ESPN (471,000). Looking more in-depth at the cable numbers, Fox News' 'Shepard Smith Reporting' at 1pm did 0.14/1,638,000, and at 2pm did 0.17/1,838,000. CNN's 'Wolf' did 0.22/1,051,000 at 1pm, and 'CNN Newsroom' at 2pm did 0.21/1,198,000. HLN did 0.13/585,000 at 1pm and 0.11/534,000 at 2pm. ESPN's coverage aired from 12:50 to 3:20 and did a 0.19/435,000 for the entire broadcast. Also, it was not included in the LA Times article, but MSNBC did a 0.09/815,000 for its 75-minute coverage from 12:45pm - 2pm, and did a 0.10/970,000 for the 2pm hour.
