SELECT MONDAY CABLE RATINGS FROM MARCH 28 - MAY 9, 2016

Select Ratings from Original Thursday Cable telecasts from March 28 - May 9, 2016:

The month long hiatus has concluded! Just an FYI, I will cover the ratings for all shows up until June 30, 2016. After that, I will be periodically posting some low rated ratings at the end of the week, and I'll post Twitter ratings. Again, daily coverage will end with the June 30th post. Thank you for following these posts for the last year and enjoy the next couple mass postings.

Here's a recap of the ratings of Monday shows in April. BETTER CALL SAUL concluded its second season with 2.26 million viewers which was down from 2.53M from the season 1 finale. It was; however, better than the 1.5 million viewers BREAKING BAD pulled in its second season finale back in 2009. TURN began its third season with a series-low 471,000 viewers, and managed to rise to 580,000 2-episodes later, but it was still lower than any episode in seasons 1 and 2. A&E's BATES MOTEL stayed steady over the course of its fourth season, never falling below 1.3 million viewers, but did hit a series-low 1.33M for the April 18th installment. On Syfy, THE MAGICIANS finished its inaugural season with 676,000 viewers, down from the 1.113 million who saw the series premiere in January, and its third lowest rated episode of the season.  HUNTERS began with a drastically low 537,000 viewers, stayed below that  number throughout its run so far. Also on Syfy, 12 MONKEYS returned from a year-long hiatus, but forgot to bring its viewers with it; dropping to a series-low 476,000 for its season premiere, and has fell even lower for the following episodes. Logo's RUPAUL'S DRAG RACE concluded its eighth season with 358,000 viewers, its highest since March, and GAY FOR PLAY began with 183,000 and 137,000 for its two premiere episodes. THE DETOUR, on TBS, began with solid 1.17M and 1.04M episodes and has stayed above 750K for its entire run so far. Also on TBS, FULL FRONTAL WITH SAMANTHA BEE has averaged over 600,000 viewers for the past 4 episodes, on par with its season average. Finally, HBO's AFTER THE THRONES began with 165,000 viewers, a minuscule number in itself, but made even worse when compared to the 8 million viewers that GoT had the night prior.

RESULTS: Cable Ratings Predictions: February 6 -8, 2016

I predicted the ratings for the shows FROM THE BOTTOM UP (Centric, 2/6), BEOWULF (2/6), BLACK SAILS (Starz, 2/6), SHAMELESS (Showtime, 2/7), BILLIONS (Showtime, 2/7), FULL FRONTAL WITH SAMANTHA BEE (TBS, 2/8), and LOVE & HIP HOP (VH1, 2/8). Here are the results of my predictions:

My predictions for the ratings for FULL FRONTAL, SHAMELESS, and FROM THE BOTTOM UP were right on the money. For SHAMELESS, I expected somewhere between 1.13M and 1.21M viewers based on data from the previous years, and the show ended up bringing in 1.16M, which was right in the range. For FULL FRONTAL WITH SAMANTHA BEE, my prediction for the cumulative viewers was between 2M and 2.2M, and the actual viewership was 2.16M; solidly in the range. However, I thought that the show would bring in 1M viewers on TBS, but it was actually much lower (629,000), while the Adult Swim airing led with 986,000. On Centric, my first prediction for FROM THE BOTTOM UP  (90K - 100K) ended up being the correct one as the show actually brought in 99,000 viewers.

My predictions were was a bit off for BILLIONS, and LOVE & HIP HOP. I was 4% off for LOVE & HIP HOP: the actual viewership was 2.6M, which was lower than my 2.7M prediction. I was 6% off for BILLIONS, which actually brought in 851,000, down 45K compared to my 896,000 prediction (though I did emphasize that it would be on the low side). I grossly underestimated my BEOWULF prediction; the show actually had 177,000 viewers (and I said ~100K). Finally, BLACK SAILS, on Starz, hit an unexpected series-low 501,000 viewers (down 34% from the 670K prediction).
