'Snowfall' Rises in Week 3, 'Suits' Stable in Week 2 | 2017-07-19

FX's 'Snowfall' rose to a 0.46 18-49 rating and 1,045,000 viewers this week for its third episode. This was up from last week's 0.39/965,000 viewers, but still not quite up at the same level as its premiere ratings on July 5 (0.58/1,361,000). The show continues to skew towards middle-aged males, hitting its highest demo in adults 25-54 (0.51), and leaning male in the 18-49s (0.57 vs. 0.36), 12-34s (0.26 vs. 0.17), and 18-34s (0.38 vs 0.27). In comparison to other FX dramas, the show is doing quite well so far. 'The Americans' averaged a 0.19 and 758,000 viewers this past spring, 'The Strain' averaged a 0.42 and 961,000 viewers last fall, 'Taboo' did 0.43 and 1,235,000 in its first season earlier this year, and 'Legion' did a 0.45 and 950,000.

USA's Suits' was stable in its second week of the season, pulling in an identical 0.36 18-49 rating, and down very slightly in total viewers with 1,358,000 (from 1,398,000). It skewed female in the 18-49s (0.42 vs. 0.30), very slightly in the 18-34s (0.25 vs. 0.24), but had twin 0.2s in the 12-34s. The show averaged a 0.42 in the 18-49s last season (second only to 'Shooter'), and 1,601,000 viewers. Through 2 episodes this season, it's averaging 0.36 and 1,378,000. 

On Bravo, 'Real Housewives of NYC' led the day in 18-49s with a 0.62 rating and 1,703,000 viewers, way up from last week's 0.52/1,545,000. 'Odd Mom Out' had a 0.21 rating and 589,000 viewers, about even with last week's 0.21/577,000. The 2 shows did a 0.97 and 0.32 in females 18-49 respectively. The rerun of 'Housewives' that aired at 8pm had 530,000 viewers.

Female skewing shows: On OWN, 'Queen Sugar' had a 0.68 females 18-49 rating and 1,558,000 total viewers, on par with last week's 0.66/1,516,000. It did a 0.38 in females 18-34. On MTV, 'Catfish' had 831,000 viewers and was even in both females 12-34 and 18-49 (0.62), much higher than last week's numbers. On E!, 'Hollywood Medium' had a 0.43 in females 18-49 and 1,037,000 viewers; a huge jump from last week's 0.32/589,000. The rerun at 10pm had 487,000. TLC's 'I Am Jazz' dropped to 0.35 in females 18-49 (from 0.41), but surprisingly doubled its male 18-49 rating to 0.15 (from 0.08). In viewers, it hit a series-low 759,000. Finally, TV Land's 'Younger' pulled a 0.25 in females 18-49 (up 0.01 from last week) and 671,000 viewers. It did a 0.21 in females 18-34. 

On A&E, 'Storage Wars' dipped to a 0.20 18-49 rating and 1,021,000 total viewers, down from last week's 0.22/1,114,000. The episode skewed male in the 18-49s (0.24 vs. 0.15) and in the 12-34s (0.17 vs. 0.13), and pulled a 0.62 in P 50+. 'Storage Wars CA' aired 3 episodes which were at 0.17/856,000, 0.17/776,000, and 0.16/738,000. The 9:30pm episode rose from last week, but both the 10pm and 10:30pm episodes were down. Spike's 'Lip Sync Battle' was down 0.01 in the 18-49s, to 0.29, but rose to 763,000 viewers (from 676,000). Between males and females 18-49, it skewed female (0.33 to 0.25), and among the various age demos, it was heaviest in the 25-54s (0.34). On TBS, 'Full Frontal with Samantha Bee' hit a very high 0.42 in adults 18-49, and had 1,113,000 viewers. It very slightly skewed male in the 18-49s (0.43 vs. 0.42), but leaned female in the 12-34s (0.32 vs. 0.24). Its highest age demo was also the 25-54s (0.48)

Other shows of note include: VH1's 'Black Ink Crew: Chicago' (0.45/882,000), Comedy Central's 'The Daily Show' (0.25/834,000) & 'At Midnight' (0.11/278,000), TruTV's 'I'm Sorry' (0.15/295,000), Syfy's 'Blood Drive' (0.13/436,000), CNBC's 'Jay Leno's Garage' (0.12/425,000), Science's 'Outrageous Acts of Science' (0.10/257,000), GSN's 'Emogenius' (0.07/315,000 & 0.06/254,000) & 'Idiotest' (0.07/280,000 & 0.06/319,000), Nicktoons' 'The Fairly Odd Parents' (0.05/277,000), Viceland's 'Huang's World' (0.05/102,000), and Great American Country's 'Going RV' (0.01/85,000).

El Rey's 'Lucha Underground' brought in 73,000 viewers at 8pm and 51,000 at 9pm. The 18-49 demos were 0.02 and 0.01 respectively. Pop's 'Nightcap' was at 0.02/89,000, BBC America's 'Broadchurch' did 0.04/256,000, and SundanceTV's 'Cleverman' had a 0.02 and 72,000 viewers.

A rerun of 'The Descendants' on Disney Channel brought in 1,314,000 viewers, and a playing of 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2' on Freeform had 637,000.  

Top cable news show by network: 'Tucker Carlson Tonight' (Fox News) had 0.26/2,389,000, 'CNN Tonight' had 0.21/1,175,000, 'The Rachel Maddow Show' (MSNBC) was at 0.36/2,971,000, and 'Morning Express w/ Meade' (HLN) had 0.06/215,000 at 6am.

On broadcast, 'Big Brother' (1.9/8, 6.19m) let at 8pm, followed by, 'Masterchef' (1.1/5, 3.45m), and 'Little Big Shots' (0.8/3, 5.82m). At 9pm, 'Salvation' (0.7/3, 4.28m) led, followed by, 'The Carmichael Show' (0.7/3, 3.23m), and 'The F Word with Gordan Ramsay' (0.7/3, 1.95m). It was all reruns at 10pm.

On Facebook & Twitter, the top 5 shows in terms of total interactions were: 'Big Brother' (204,000), 'Queen Sugar' (69,000), 'Catfish' (59,000), 'Black Ink Crew: Chicago' (41,000), and 'The Real Housewives of New York City' (36,000).
